WorldNetDaily Gives
International News Analysis Editor
Vote of Confidence

Joe Farah's WorldNetDaily, one of the Internet's largest conservative news services, has given Toby Westerman, editor and publisher of International News Analysis and International News Analysis Today, a stunning vote of confidence.

WorldNetDaily's lead article journal for Tuesday, June 10, 2003 entitled, "All the lies fit to print: N.Y. Times 1932 Pulitzer could be revoked" is based largely upon an article Mr. Westerman wrote for WND July 4, 2000,
"The Manchurian Media."

Joe Farah's WND article of June 10 recounts the attempt by Ukrainian groups to revoke the Pulitzer Prize of former New York Times Moscow correspondent Walter Duranty for his role in covering up the terror-famine of 1932-33, which killed some ten million people.

We invite our readers to compare WND's June 10 article, "All the lies fit to print…" with the information found in "The Manchurian Media," written by Toby Westerman.

"The Manchurian Media" was based upon an article which had originally appeared in the May/June 2000 issue of International News Analysis entitled, "Who Was Walter Duranty?"

International News Analysis Today recognizes Joe Farah's and WND's right to use the information from "The Manchurian Media" as they wish, since WND holds the copyright to the article.

We must note, however, that in several instances the wording of the June 10 article was taken directly from "The Manchurian Media," and we are disappointed that mention was not given of its author, Toby Westerman.

International News Analysis Today continues to assert the value of our research and our perspective on the news.

On May 28, 2003, International News Analysis Today published "Scandal, Lies, Terror - and The New York Times," citing a Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty report which covered the story of Ukrainian attempts to revoke Duranty's Pulitzer Prize.

INA Today scooped WND by two weeks with this story.

"Scandal, Lies, Terror - and The New York Times" not only covered the Ukrainian pressure to revoke Duranty's Pulitzer, but also pointed out that The New York Times and its Moscow correspondent were responsible for corrupting the history of the era -- a crime for which The Times has yet to issue an apology.

Duranty and The New York Times are responsible for misleading generations of readers. Given this and other more recent scandals, The New York Times does not deserve to be the "newspaper of record" for the country.

All media would do well to remember that they, too, are not free from the measure of trust and forthrightness, even beyond the bounds of strict legality.
